Heidi Cruz: A Glimpse Into Her Character
“Heidi Cruz: A Glimpse Into Her Character”
By Donna Garner
Here is an excellent interview with Heidi Cruz done in 2011. I just came across this video a few months ago. Heidi tells of her business experience and what it is like to be a young wife and mother. It is a very refreshing interview because it reveals Heidi Cruz’s heart, her love for her family, and details about her childhood – in other words, a glimpse into her true character. It gives me hope to think how wonderful it will be to have Heidi Cruz as our next First Lady.

“What About the Hit Piece on Heidi Cruz and Council on Foreign Relations?”
By Donna Garner
In 2012, Ted Cruz was running for his U. S. Senate position against Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. In this YouTube (link posted below), Cruz responds to the allegations about his wife Heidi Cruz’s involvement with the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). In the clip, Cruz explains to interviewer Derrick Broze that the CFR has thousands of people in its membership — even John Bolton — and that his wife (and probably John Bolton) joined CFR to try to bring some conservative principles to the table.
Please remember that this video was made BEFORE Ted Cruz was seated in the U. S. Senate, and we all know about the courageous (yet unpopular positions with the Republican elites) that he has taken since being in the U. S. Senate (e.g., 21-hour filibuster against ObamaCare, Cromnibus to keep Obama’s illegal amnesty from going through, outspoken opponent of Common Core long before making his run for the Presidency, etc.)

3.28.15 – MORE COMMENTS FROM DONNA GARNER –
Heidi Cruz is mentioned in the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) newsletter in 2005 — http://www.cfr.org/canada/building-north-american-community/p8102 .
Heidi and Ted married in May of 2001. During 2000 – 2005, this was a period of time when Pres. George W. Bush was trying to build close ties with Mexico. He entertained Mexican President Vicente Fox on a number of occasions (such as at the GWB ranch at Crawford, Texas); and there were efforts to bring the three countries (Canada, Mexico, and U. S.) into close trade relationships. I think the idea in GWB’s mind was to try to help Mexico to become economically stronger so that the illegals would stay in Mexico and quit flooding into Texas.
It wasn’t long after this period of time that relationships with Mexico soured; and then Obama came along with his border surge and illegal amnesty.
Actually since Obama’s “fast and furious,” U. S. relations with Mexico have gotten much worse; and the drug cartels are flooding over the border of Texas making our state very dangerous.
As an energy investment banker with Merrill Lynch (and J. P. Morgan in NYC) and as a Republican, it would not have been unusual for Heidi S. Cruz to get involved with CFR as a part of her business dealings. After all, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a double major in economics and international relations. Then she worked during the GWB administration under Condoleeza Rice as the Economic Director for the Western Hemisphere at the National Security Council, as the Director of the Latin America Office at the U.S. Treasury Department, and as Special Assistant to Ambassador Robert B. Zoellick, U.S. Trade Representative.
From descriptions of Heidi, her passion is not ideological politics so much as it is economic issues; and I imagine that is why she was on the task force of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Big Jolly (mentioned in this Dallas Morning News article — 10.27.11 – “Politico: Cruz Lashes Group Wife Belonged To: Roll Call Disses Leppert, Jones” – by Robert Garrett — http://trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com/2011/10/politico-cruz-scores-group-his.html/ ) tried very hard to malign Ted Cruz when he ran for the U. S. Senate. Evidently Big Jolly wanted Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst to win. Big Jolly has always been a Ron/Rand Paul group of libertarians, and all of us authentic conservative Texans have learned to understand that Big Jolly is not a reputable group. I feel sure they are the source of the video going around about Heidi Cruz and CFR because Big Jolly was behind this same type of hit piece back in 2011.
Robert Garrett, the journalist who wrote the above story, is known as a left-leaner. We who read the Dallas Morning News each day are used to Garrett’s left-leaning hit pieces. However, he did have the courtesy to post Heidi Cruz’s comments on the CFR’s Task Force report and to mention that she is a strong supporter of free enterprise:
Quote from Heidi S. Cruz:
I support the Task Force report and its recommendations aimed at building a safer and more prosperous North America. Economic prosperity and a world safe from terrorism and other security threats are no doubt inextricably linked. While governments play an invaluable
role in both regards, we must emphasize the imperative that economic investment be led and perpetuated by the private sector. There is no force proven like the market for aligning incentives, sourcing capital, and producing results like financial markets and profit-making businesses.
This is simply necessary to sustain a higher living standard for the poorest among us–truly the measure of our success. As such, investment funds and financing mechanisms should be deemed attractive instruments by those committing the capital and should only be developed
in conjunction with market participants.
