Instructional Leader: Martin Haberman Archives

” School is a matter of life and death for children, especially for those living in poverty. ” Dr. Martin Haberman

The long standing research and continuous development for today’s educators, nationwide, from Dr. Martin Haberman, Distinguished Professor, UWM, (1932-2012) remains as prevalent today as any new information on the market. While his life long goal was to ensure that the children and youth of America and beyond had an opportunity to learn and succeed in school,  his writing rings true, year after year!. He once said, ” School is a matter of life and death for children, especially for those living in poverty. ” “If you believe my words”, he said, “it changes every thing you do as a teacher or a school leader.” Schools will never be any better than the teachers and principals that serve the clients/students. Here is a shining example of his core beliefs! Delia Stafford
