There’s No Money in the Budget

Jul 12, 2017 by

“Los Angeles Unified School District board members who are not employed elsewhere will see their salary jump from $46,000 to $125,000 a year.”

The above sentence was taken from Yahoo this morning. It reflects an increase, ( according to Yahoo) of 174 percent. I did not do the math- you can do the math, but this still seems inordinate. Now, I understand about cost of living increases, and it is probably more expensive to live in or near L.A. than in other parts of the United States. Still, this seems a bit inordinate- but that is just my opinion.   The one thing I do hear from teachers is that there is no money in the budget for certain things. Well, in Los Angeles, there seems to be money for school board members.   Maybe I can get a raise of 174 percent for all I do for www.educationViews.org ? ( only kidding)
