“Texans, Stop Racist, Divisive, Militant Curriculum from Indoctrinating Our Students”

UPDATE: At the September 2017 Texas State Board of Education meeting, only one publisher, Tony Diaz, submitted a text to be adopted for Mexican-American Studies (MAS) to be used in our Texas public schools, Grades 9 – 12.

Almost a year ago at the Nov. 2016, Cynthia Dunbar, who is a Constitutional attorney and professor (and had been on the SBOE when the most fact-based, patriotic social studies curriculum standards in the entire nation were adopted), presented her excellent book for the MAS.  However, the leftist media colluding together chose one statement out of context and proceeded to blackball Dunbar’s book.  Unfortunately, the majority of the Board rejected Dunbar’s submission.

Undoubtedly, Tony Diaz and his leftist organization were behind the defeat of Dunbar’s book; and in the Sept. 2017 SBOE meeting, he submitted his OWN text for the MAS.  His text, however, only contains 52% of the required TEKS (curriculum standards for Texas) which is just a fraction above the 50% required by Texas education law. That leaves him 48% of the book to which to input his racist, divisive, militaristic beliefs.

Tony Diaz must not be allowed to move his destructive beliefs into our Texas public schools.  The SBOE will vote at its Nov. 7 – 10, 2017 Board meeting on whether to add Diaz’s book to the state adoption list for MAS — the only book being submitted.

On 9.17.17, I wrote an article warning the SBOE and the public about Tony Diaz and his dangerous plan to indoctrinate our Texas students:  “Tony Diaz Attempting To Put His Militant, Racist Textbook Into Texas Public Schools” — By Donna Garner – EdViews.orghttp://www.educationviews.org/tony-diaz-attempting-put-militant-racist-textbook-texas-public-schools/

During the last few weeks, I have been doing further research behind Tony Diaz, La Raza, MEChA, the Aztlán movement, etc.  Here is what I found.

Based upon this research, it is unthinkable that the SBOE would even consider allowing Tony Diaz to indoctrinate our Texas public school students with his harmful rhetoric:

==========

My research on:  MEChA, La Raza, Aztlán, Mexican-American Studies

MEChA is the social club for the Chicano student movement for Aztlán.  They want to take over the United States by starting with the seven Southwest states, believing that Mexico still owns this territory. Aztlán includes the states of California, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Texas.

According to Wikipedia, “A passage from MEChA’s national website reads: ‘As Chicanas and Chicanos of Aztlán, we are a nationalist movement of Indigenous Gente that lay claim to the land that is ours by birthright. As a nationalist movement we seek to free our people from the exploitation of an oppressive society that occupies our land.”

MEChA believes that the United States “stole” these seven states (the Aztlán territory) from Mexico; and, therefore, MEChA rejects the notion that any Chicano can be considered an illegal immigrant. Texas Freedom Network (TFN), started by Cecile Richards (the President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund) is supported by the following organizations. Please notice that MEChA is one of them:

Planned Parenthood; the Human Rights Campaign (largest homosexual organization in the U. S.); the ACLU Texas; Alliance for Clean Texas; People for the American Way; Center for Public Policy Priorities; Equality Texas; NARAL Pro-Choice; Sierra Club; Freedom From Religion Foundation; Stand Down Texas; Texas Association of Planned Parenthood Affiliates (TAPPA); Texas Impact; The Texas Observer; MECha (who wants to eliminate the border with Mexico entirely and honor Mexican revolutionary war hero Ernesto Zapata and Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara); the Center for Inquiry (CFI) who fought to make the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional.

“La Raza’s Nazi Link – Jose Vasconcelos”

YOUTUBE – 4:25 MINUTES — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpBjuL8Mzg8

In the summer of 2017, the National Council of La Raza changed its name to UnidosUS. CEO Janet Murguia said the name change was to give the movement broader appeal. It seems, however, to be a concession to some of their critics.

Patriot groups have been pointing out for years that “La Raza” means “the Race” in Spanish. This has generally been denied by Murguia and other La Raza-related and Chicano groups. They claim it means “the People” not the race, but Spanish has another, more specific word for the “People,” that is “La Gente.”  “El Pueblo” can also mean the People. “La Raza” means primarily “the Race.”

It is becoming more widely known that a man named Jose Vasconcelos developed the concept and popularized the term, “La Raza.” His concept of La Raza is described in his book “La Raza Cosmica.”

Vasconcelos was a famous philosopher and politician in Mexico. He developed a Nazi-like racial concept in the 1920’s that the ultimate superior race would evolve from the Hispanic mestizo — that is mixed — race, La Raza.

Vasconcelos was an extreme hater of Anglo Americans. He was a paid Nazi propagandist during World War II. In this image he is standing next to Arthur Dietrich the brother of Adolf Hitler’s press chief, Otto Dietrich. Arthur Dietrich was heading the pro-Nazi, anti-American propaganda efforts in Mexico, before and during the first part of the war, until Mexico aligned with the Allies. Dietrich paid Vasconcelos to publish a pro-Nazi magazine, called “Timon.” These historical facts in the background of the La Raza and Chicano movements have been coming more and more to light in recent years to the broader Mexican public and to a somewhat lesser extent in the United States.

It seems that the name change [from La Raza to UnidosUS] is just an attempt to distance the National Council of La Raza from this racialist, pro-Nazi, anti-American history.

Chicano and La Raza groups in the United States have their roots in ultranationalist and fascist movements in Mexico. In the US, they allied themselves more with with Marxism, but they still show many signs of their original links to Nazi-ism and fascism.

“La Raza Will Dominate Aztlan – Reies Tijerina, Chicano Movement Founder (1969)”

YOUTUBE – 4:11 MINUTES — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXws76J5RlU

[NOTE: To turn on captions for the English translation, please go to the wheel at the bottom of the YouTube screen and choose English.]

Reies Tijerina was a revolutionary activist in New Mexico during the 1960’s. He is called one of “Four Horsemen,” which are considered founders of the radical Chicano Movement which had its hay day in the late 1960’s and 1970’s. Today it is part for the wider La Raza movement.

In this clip Tijerina lays out his racialist vision for the American Southwest and the entire Western Hemisphere being dominated by a new, brown Race (La Raza).

This clip is an excerpt from a speech made at UCLA on May 9, 1969.  Tijerina cites Jose Vasconcelos as the inspiration for his vision. Vasconcelos developed a Nazi-like racialist theory for the mestizo race in his book, La Raza Comica, published in 1925. He was a Nazi sympathizer and a paid Nazi propagandist during the 1930’s and WWII.

5.16.17 – VIDEO:  “Librotraficante – Book Trafficker: Tony Diaz at TEDxYouth@Houston”

YOUTUBE – 20.32 MINUTES: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=476&v=lFh8ECzJX4Y

[At marker 9:33 Diaz attempts to explain the multicultural “terms” he likes to use, but his explanations leave much confusion which would end up further dividing a student body.  At marker 13:41, he explains his librotraficante movement, the upcoming Ninth District ruling, the U. S. Supreme Court, the “un-American/racist law” passed by the Arizona Legislature (HB 2281), his plan to have Mexican-American Studies in Texas public schools K-12, etc.]

Here is the Arizona law (HB 2281) that Tony Diaz and his student protesters think is so “un-American and racist.”  Tony Diaz led students to break the law by smuggling banned books back into the schools.

ARIZONA HB 2281 – EFFECTIVE AFTER DEC. 31, 2010

Relating to school curriculum:

15-111. Declaration of policy 5

THE LEGISLATURE FINDS AND DECLARES THAT PUBLIC SCHOOL PUPILS SHOULD BE TAUGHT TO TREAT AND VALUE EACH OTHER AS INDIVIDUALS AND NOT BE TAUGHT TO  RESENT OR HATE OTHER RACES OR CLASSES OF PEOPLE.

8 15-112. Prohibited courses and classes.

A SCHOOL DISTRICT OR CHARTER SCHOOL IN THIS STATE SHALL NOT INCLUDE IN ITS PROGRAM OF INSTRUCTION ANY COURSES OR CLASSES THAT INCLUDE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

PROMOTE THE OVERTHROW OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT.

PROMOTE RESENTMENT TOWARD A RACE OR CLASS OF PEOPLE.

ARE DESIGNED PRIMARILY FOR PUPILS OF A PARTICULAR ETHNIC GROUP.

ADVOCATE ETHNIC SOLIDARITY INSTEAD OF THE TREATMENT OF PUPILS AS INDIVIDUALS.

[Notice the photos of the protest marchers and their signs captured at markers 7:09, 13:29, 15:25, 16:48, 18:16. Some of these photos are from marches in Arizona where they protested HB 2281; others are from Texas where they protested SB 1128.

The protesters in Texas are holding signs that vilified SB 1128. This was a bill up before the Texas Legislature in 2013 that sought to require students graduating from Texas public universities to have at least 6 semester hours in comprehensive survey courses in American History, 3 of which could be from a comprehensive survey course in Texas History or from an equivalent program of an approved senior R.O.T.C. unit.  Comprehensive survey courses would have kept specific courses in ethnic studies from satisfying the requirement for graduation. SB 1128 never reached the floor for a vote.]

Is this the kind of militant/racist presence we want to cultivate among the students in our Texas public schools?

COMMENTS FROM DONNA GARNER:  I believe it would be extremely foolish for the Texas State Board of Education to approve Tony Diaz’s textbook submission, “Mexican-American Studies Toolkit,” to be placed in our Texas public schools. Our country is divided enough and is suffering from very dangerous hate-filled groups, many of which have indoctrinated our nation’s school children over the last eight years through the Common Core social justice agenda.  We must protect our Texas public school students by making sure they study the great historical heroes and heroines from all ethnicities, races, and walks of life who have contributed to making America the greatest country in the world.  The Texas Social Studies curriculum standards (TEKS) approved by the elected members of the Texas State Board of Education are the most fact-based, patriotic curriculum standards in the entire United States.  We must assertively and intentionally keep them in place and not allow those who want to bring divisiveness, victimization, and hate to infiltrate our state’s classrooms.
