11 Days, 3 Dead- untold others wounded, their lives shattered, communities impacted.

It seems it is dangerous to go to church or synagogue or a university, or a school in America.

In San Diego , Lori Gilbert Kaye , 60,  sacrificed her life as she engaged the shooter and perished for her heroic actions.

Riley Howell , 21, engaged a gunman who apparently entered a University of North Carolina-Charlotte room with a gun . This individual bravely attempted to stop tragedy but lost his life in an effort to protect and save others.

Most recently,  Tuesday in a Science, Technology, Electronics and Math  school adjacent to Denver, Kendrick Castillo who was 18, attempted to prevent  a fellow student  from harming and injuring others . His efforts allowed his peers adequate time to escape. While he was the only one killed, 8 others were apparently injured.  He was apparently set to graduate the day after tomorrow.

Yes, our hearts are heavy and our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted. Some of these individuals in the schools or synagogues will be impacted for the rest of their lives.

We apparently live in a violent world, and these are violent times, and there simply is inadequate mental health services in our schools and communities and inadequate awareness of the real issues.    But if you turn on the news you will see what our political leaders are concerned about- The President’s income tax returns.

Just goes to show where some people’s values  and priorities are.
