2017 TEXAS HOUSE, RANKED FROM LIB LEFT TO CONS RIGHT

Jul 22, 2017 by

[“You can run, but you cannot hide.” Many Texas Representatives run as conservatives, but are they really?

The statistical data below has been prepared by Mark P. Jones (a Fellow at Rice University/Baker Institute); he has analyzed the 2017 Regular Session of the Texas Legislature.  This should tell voters all they need to know whenever they next go into the voting booth.

As of 7.18.17, the Texas Legislature is now in Special Session. How are these Texas Reps going to vote on such issues as “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms,” “Daughters Not Dollars”?

Will Texas Reps decide it is more important to protect women and girls from sexual predators who so easily could gain access to these private facilities by pretending to be transgenders, or will the Reps listen to the big business conglomerates funded by LGBTQ activist and megadonor Tim Gill?

Will Texas Reps do the right thing and protect school children who return to classes this fall?  Children cannot “unsee” the private parts of people’s bodies that are exposed in school bathrooms.

Surely thinking adults can come together to protect our school children by preserving their dignity and any naivete they still have left in this sexualized culture.  Women and girls should not have to worry about their safety whenever they go into dressing rooms and bathing facilities.

The voters are watching. – Donna Garner]

Excerpts from this article:

This table (http://tinyurl.com/y8owcw6d) contains each representative’s Lib-Con Score and rank-ordered position on the Liberal-Conservative dimension, ranging from 1 (most liberal) to 149 (most conservative)

The table also details the ideological location of each representative in relation to his or her co-partisans. In each party, every representative’s ideological location was compared with that of his or her party caucus colleagues and then placed into one of seven mutually exclusive, albeit arbitrary, ordinal ideological categories going from left to right:

  1. More liberal/less conservative than 2/3
  2. More liberal/less conservative than 1/2
  3. More liberal/less conservative than 1/3
  4. Democratic/Republican center
  5. More conservative than 1/3
  6. More conservative than 1/2
  7. More conservative than 2/3
