“Alice Linahan and Others Defend Children’s Hearts and Minds: SBOE Testimony”

On July 19, 2014, Alice Linahan testified at the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) meeting and shared her grave concerns about the new Advanced Placement U. S. History (APUSH) Framework that if allowed to be implemented will strip our brightest and best students of their appreciation for America.

Here is the link to Alice’s short SBOE testimony:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDXoJatfARg&list=UUgzhBnWlX2Mz_Pd-d_GqoXQ

In the Q & A which followed Alice’s testimony, SBOE Member Ken Mercer made some vital and very pertinent comments.  However, SBOE Member Mavis Knight asked Alice how the APUSH could be Common Core since Common Core only deals with English and Math.

The following is the answer to Ms. Knight’s question, and this answer comes straight from the Common Core Standards website.  Basically the answer is that the Common Core English Standards are actually entitled “The Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects.”

In other words, David Coleman (the architect of the Common Core and the president of The College Board that produces the APUSH Framework, SAT, PSAT, and GED) and those who deliberately colluded together to craft a complete takeover of our nation’s schools by the federal government came up with a diabolical plan:  Push through Common Core English Standards that would include not just the subjects normally taught under the English “umbrella” but that also would capture History, Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects. —   http://www.corestandards.org/ELA-Literacy/

The Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (“the standards”) represent the next generation of K–12 standards designed to prepare all students for success in college, career, and life by the time they graduate from high school.

The new AP U. S. History is definitely Common Core, and there are excellent articles that document that fact (posted below).

Even though SBOE Member Mavis Knight said she had not heard of the new APUSH Framework until a couple of days before the 7.18.14 SBOE meeting, she spoke in error. I sent the following APUSH articles to ALL Texas State Board of Education members including Ms. Knight starting on 6.22.14.  If she chose not to read them, then that was her choice. She had an opportunity to become prepared and should have been concerned enough about the APUSH to become conversant on the issue.

The good thing is that Ms. Knight’s question gave Alice Linahan an opportunity to expound further on her APUSH  concerns.
