Book Review : Channing O’Banning and the Rainforest Rescue

Written by Angela Spady and illustrated by Tammie Lyon, this is a nice pleasant book for junior high kids to read over the summer months.  The writing style is appealing, and the characters revealing. Kids will relate to Boring Mr. Doring and the situations in which Channing finds herself. Adolescent issues are featured and there are some issues of interest that should be discussed by parents and kids. The book will take you to ” Stinkville” and make sure that you are aware of frogs wearing sneakers. Plants, animals, and people permeate the book as Channing attempts to cope with the loss of her best friend as well as the up and coming science test. For those who want more information, they can go to   This is a nice high interest, low vocabulary book for middle school students who have issues on their plates and best friends going astray. Get together with some gummy bears and a sketchbook to take notes and have a pleasant afternoon of reading.
