Carl Paladino, Garbage Mouth

Aug 22, 2017 by

Carl Paladino, the Republican candidate for governor of New York State in 2010, and until last week a member of the Buffalo school system’s governing board, stated last year that he wished former President Obama “would have sex with a cow and die from mad cow disease” and that First Lady Obama would “return to be a male” and “let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe” to cohabit with a gorilla.

It took many months for this vile iconic gassbag to be canned from his position by state Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia.

What took so long? His bile and bilge had been published and the author’s authenticity never disputed. Neither his sincerity.  There was nothing to investigate. Not even a pathetic claim of being quoted out of context.

Mr. Paladino blames the proverbial special interests who, he is convinced, were squeaky wheels with political influence who called in a favor and got greased.  It’s not that the “squeaky wheel” got oiled; it’s that the wheels of justice grind slowly, if at all.

Paladino would prefer them to grind to a halt.

He has gone to federal court to fight his removal with all the ferocity of the defenders of Stalingrad. Pending the outcome, he doesn’t want the state Education Department to be starved of his advice, so he is volunteering the recommendation that the entire school board, himself excepted, is corrupt and should be tossed out.

Mind-blowing as it must sound to folks uninitiated in the fatuous mechanics of the technical application of law, Paladino’s pathological comments about the Obamas are protected free speech and not the official cause of his dismissal. What got him ousted was that he had openly revealed confidential information about the school board’s discussions about the teachers union contract which the Buffalo blusterer fulminated had been rigged.

We unapologetic teacher union members are delighted that the education scene has been purged of Paladino for at least for a year, and are proud of any part we may have inadvertently played in tripping him up.

This man doesn’t rise to the level of being beneath contempt.
