I skim the news. I look around the Internet and google and yahoo and use all, or some of these search engines and I often encounter stuff that is interesting, some provocative, some worthy of investigation, and then finally, some things fall into the “ Why Does This Not Surprise Me Department”

Well, if you are interested, you can go to the link below- if you even skim the link, you can see the headline- “Congressional Approval at all time low of 9 according to new CBS News New York Times poll.

Now we all know that these polls can be off by a few points, and we all know that these polls can be impacted by when and where they are taken and by whom. But I think in general, this one is quite telling- that the American people, or whoever was questioned in this poll are not real happy about what is going on in Congress, and the fact that the country seems to be stalled.

I anticipate another poll about the President’s approval being at an all time low (funny, one never hears about the Supreme Court’s approval ratings being at an all time low).

I shudder to think what the American people might say about public and higher education. We shall have to wait and see if anyone does a poll on this (although I am told some major piece is going to appear early next month- stay tuned).

Do our Senators and congressmen and congresswomen get the message? Maybe as Ray Stevens sings we will “Throw the Bums Out” in the next election. Go to the link below: Check it out…we all need a few laughs once in a while. But I am not laughing about the current situation.

We are still looking for those leaders who will “make a difference” or who have “made a difference” in the realm of education. But I think it is time that I made a few phone calls- just to let my representatives in Washington know that the American people are not necessarily approving of what’s going on in Washington.
