Common Core Is Leaving My Students Behind

I teach special education. We already know that these children can’t read at their grade level.

The mission of American education is “No Child Left Behind.” For me as a special-education teacher in New York state, that means making my students feel worthwhile and giving them the confidence they need to succeed—academically and socially.
