CSCOPE SCHOOLS – MIDLAND AND ECTOR CO. ISD’S — DAY OF RECKONING

If I were a taxpayer and/or a parent in Midland ISD or Ector Co. iSD (Texas), I would be asking lots of questions about whether CSCOPE is aligned with the STAAR/End-of-Course tests. If students are not being taught the knowledge and skills necessary to prove themselves on the STAAR/EOC’s, then something is wrong with the administrative decisions made by these two school districts.
The Texas Education Agency has just released the list of 892 Texas public school campuses that have been identified as low performing because of poor test scores or unacceptable ratings under the Public Education Grant program (PEG):
http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/perfreport/peg/2013/peg_list_2014-15.pdf
Here is the link to the list of CSCOPE school districts/school systems as of 8.25.12: http://nocompromisepac.ning.com/profiles/blogs/cscope-list-of-texas-school-districts-school-systems-as-of-8-25?xg_source=activity
By comparing the two lists posted above (PEG vs. CSCOPE), the public should be able to determine generally whether CSCOPE is helping or hindering the academic performance of Texas students.
How did Midland ISD and Ector Co. ISD (both in ESC Region 18) do? Are any of their schools on the PEG List? Absolutely…quite a few…
These two school districts were evidently using CSCOPE during the same time period that the data was being compiled for the PEG List. It looks to me as if CSCOPE has proved itself to be a waste of taxpayers’ dollars and has hindered instead of helped the students in these two school districts to increase their academic achievement.
