Cal State Northridge Professor Karin Stanford said she stands by a final exam she gave that sparked controversy and threatening posts in some politically conservative circles but conceded that she may do things differently next time.

The political scientist, who teaches through CSUN’s Africana Studies department, was singled out for two final exam questions she selected about Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton by a conservative news site that aims to expose liberal bias on campuses. A reader’s comment posted under that Campus Reform article published in January stated in part: “Somebody shoot her in the face.”

Stanford, citing safety concerns, stopped teaching on campus in mid-January and has been working with campus police and university officials on when and in what capacity she’ll return.
