NORTH BILLERICA, Mass., March 6, 2013 – Curriculum Associates’ BRIGANCE® Special Education family of products has been officially endorsed by the Council for Administrators of Special Education (CASE), a division of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). BRIGANCE Special Education was endorsed after a rigorous evaluation based on its marketability, feasibility, research base, performance in field tests, customer satisfaction, company reputation, and enhancement of professional practice as advocated by CASE.

“Curriculum Associates’ BRIGANCE Special Education program met the strict criteria that our organization requires for product endorsement,” said Luann Purcell, Ed. D., executive director of CASE. “Not all programs meet the rigor of our evaluation. Receiving this endorsement signifies the program’s effectiveness in assessing the needs of students with special needs, and Curriculum Associates’ commitment to provide comprehensive tools for the special education market.”

The multi-component BRIGANCE Special Education program includes assessment, screening, and instructional tools that help special educators provide early and ongoing interventions for students with special needs. With the program, educators can meet IDEA requirements and address state and Common Core standards; develop measurable goals and objectives for IEPs and plan individualized instruction; and monitor student progress.

Included in the BRIGANCE Special Education program is the Inventory of Early Development (IED) III (both criterion-referenced and norm-referenced) to assess students’ developmental skills; the Comprehensive Inventory of Basic Skills (CIBS) II (both criterion-referenced and norm-referenced) to assess students’ academic skills; and the Transition Skills Inventory (TSI) and Transition Skills Activities to identify students’ transition needs and build key transition skills. The BRIGANCE Screens III, a line of developmental screening tools for birth through first grade, are also available. Finally, the BRIGANCE Online Management System offers comprehensive data management and reporting associated with each component of the BRIGANCE program.

“For more than 30 years, the BRIGANCE family of products has helped special educators identify students in need of additional support and services. The endorsement from the CASE organization further solidifies the impact that these products have – and will continue to have – in the special education setting,” said Rob Waldron, President and CEO of Curriculum Associates. “As we continue to expand and improve upon these trusted resources, we remain committed to providing educators with the most comprehensive and user-friendly tools on the market.”
