DATA LACKING ON ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS

George Miller (D-Calif.) requested a report comparing results for students learning English in charter schools versus traditional public schools, but the Government Accountability Office said about one-third of charters didn’t provide data on how many English language learners are enrolled. In a report released publicly Thursday, the office recommended the Education Department “systematically explore” whether charter schools aren’t reporting other data and address the problem if they are not.
