Senior Foreign Correspondent, Colin Hannaford

Our Senior Foreign Correspondent, Colin Hannaford, will represent EducationViews and EducationNews at this important education conference in May in London, and will subsequently report on its achievement.

The conference is supported by the British Council, the UK Higher Education International and Europe Unit, the Supreme Education Council of Qatar, the Leadership Foundation of Qatar University, and the Middle-East Association.

Its aim is to offer opportunities for educational institutions and businesses to co-operate with the GCC states of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates, in addressing their K12 systems to meet modern educational, industrial and technological needs.

In June 2011 the first Gulf Education conference provided opportunities for partnerships in Qatar. This second conference will give access to member states of the entire GCC region.
Senior representatives of educational and training institutions, technology providers, educational foundations; student recruitment bodies, and renowned members of research and development communities, will be invited to attend and to speak.

Colin will bring to the conference his exceptional knowledge of the connection between mathematics education and democracy, together with his deep insight into children’s need to be treated with respect in order to achieve responsible intellectual maturity.

In particular he will look for agreement with his recent proposal to the 66th General Assembly of Union Nations that the dignity of the 4 billion young people in the world today can be substantially increased by an addition to the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights that they have a natural right to be honest and a natural right to ask questions.

Our contribution to the conference will be very simple. Let young people receive through peaceful education the respect they may otherwise attempt to claim through destructive revolution.

Please tell us of your support!
