[Comments from Donna Garner:  If you want to read a story of “good and evil,” you must go to Alice Linahan’s website published today.

Alice Linahan has done a masterful job of responding to Thomas Ratliff’s allegations in the second complaint he has filed against her with the Texas Ethics Commission.  However, by telling her personal story (complete with photos, graphics, podcast segments, pdf’s), the reader is held spellbound.

Because Alice is such a humble person and wants no personal accolades for what she does, she probably would never have told the details revealed in her story today had it not been for Ratliff’s ruthless actions.

Alice’s story is one of courage, honesty, and dedication to her family and to children all over America.

On the other hand, Thomas Ratliff’s story is one of bullying, intimidation, greed, elitism, and out-of-control arrogance.

The way to counter a bully is to stand up to him, and that is exactly what Alice is doing.  She has the definite advantage, however, because she has the TRUTH on her side!

The way the state of Texas can stand up to Thomas Ratliff is for the House to begin the impeachment proceedings against him.

The way Texas citizens can make a difference is to sign the impeachment petition against Thomas Ratliff so that the House members know we are watching and expecting them to take action.

I can honestly say that anyone who starts reading the following article will finish it because it speaks to the heart of every mom, pop, and grandparent who cares about his family members and the future of our country:

“Sen. Patrick calls for review of ties between Harmony, Louisiana school under investigation”

By Kate Alexander

EXCERPTS FROM THIS ARTICLE:

Repercussions from legal troubles at a Louisiana charter school have reached Texas because of the school’s business ties with the Houston-based Harmony Public Schools, the state’s largest charter operator.

In the wake of an FBI raid at a Baton Rouge charter school last week, Senate Education Committee Chairman Dan Patrick, R-Houston, announced Monday his committee would hold a fact-finding hearing to explore the relationship between Harmony, the Louisiana school and a related foundation.

Harmony Superintendent Soner Tarim said the charter operator contracted with the Louisiana charter school, the Kenilworth School, to provide business services, such as a professional development program and a student information system.

Harmony, whose founders are Turkish, has been dogged by allegations that it is connected to a controversial Muslim cleric and has questionable business practices. Harmony officials deny both claims.

Conservative activists raised those issues in Texas two years ago, prompting a legislative committee to look into Harmony. The committee took no action and did not issue any findings.

Patrick, who is running for lieutenant governor in a crowded Republican primary, said the latest round of legislative scrutiny is necessary to ensure quality in Texas charter schools.

Harmony runs 40 charter schools across the state, including five campuses in the Austin area, and provides a science- and math-intensive curriculum. About 25,500 students — 14 percent of all charter school students in Texas — attend a Harmony school with another 40,000 on the wait list.

The charter network has earned a national reputation for its rigorous math and science curriculum and last year won a $30 million federal grant aimed at customizing instruction for each student.
