Former NYC schools honcho Rudy Crew has been left dangling by Dekalb County, Ga. — where he is hoping to be the new superintendent.

The county Board of Education had considered Crew a finalist, but after a back-room executive session ended Friday night’s meeting without a decision on who would fill the top schools slot, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

On Wednesday, he’d told the paper that he realized that internet searches of his name turns up his previous allegations that he took personal trips on taxpayer dollars and obstructed a rape investigation — but that he hoped the county could look past that.

Crew, who served as superintendent in New York City from 1995 to 1999, is currently the president of CUNY’s Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn.

Last year, the chief diversity officer at the college claimed in a federal lawsuit that he had bullied and then fired her after she forwarded a colleague’s discrimination complaint up to CUNY’s central administration for review.
