Jan 5, 2018 by

A career as an actor can be very rewarding, and certainly extremely lucrative. Famous actors are known all around the world for their work, and for those dreaming of a career in the media that will bring them fame and fortune, acting can be the perfect choice. However, getting noticed as an actor and making a successful career from your acting skills is much easier said than done. We’ve put together some top tips to help you kick-start your acting career and make others stand up and notice your talent.

Tip #1. Prepare for a Long Road Ahead:

You’ve probably heard plenty of stories about actors who are spotted early on in their career and land a role in a big movie or TV show, however, the sad truth is that these stories are the minority. For the most part, actors have had to work hard at perfecting their craft and putting themselves out there time and time again until somebody finally gives them a chance. Prepare for rejection, and make sure that you’re ready to learn from every failed audition so that you can use them as a way of improving your standards and refining your skills.

Tip #2. Be Proactive:

As an aspiring actor, there’s no use in sitting around and hoping that somebody notices you. Today, even applying to as many auditions as you can sometimes simply isn’t good enough. In fact, there’s nothing stopping you from being more pro-active – perhaps you could get together a group of people who are interested in producing a short movie that you will star in, or setting up your own YouTube channel that you can use to show off your acting skills. This will not only give you good practice; it’ll also be a great way to provide yourself with a platform for marketing yourself as an actor and improving your acting portfolio.

Tip #3. Seek Opinions:

Since acting is all about other people’s opinions of you, it’s good to know what people in the industry think of your talents and which type of roles you would be best suited to. Talk to people who you trust and who know the industry and get them to give you honest advice on the type of roles that they think you should apply for – an outsider perspective can help you to make better decisions in this line of work. Never be afraid of asking for advice when it comes to improvement, either!

Tip #4. Get in with the Crowd:

When it comes to succeeding as an actor, it’s often more about who you know, than what you know. Signing up for programs such as those available from will give you the opportunity to get inside the industry and learn insider strategies and secrets to help boost your success. Along with that, you’ll also have the chance to work alongside successful actors, producers, and casting departments. As a result, you’ll learn how to better market yourself within the industry and gain more exposure to the right people.
