Hallelujah!  Gov. Abbott Lifts Mask Requirement as of 6.5.21”

On June 5, 2021, Gov. Abbott’s new executive order (issued today) bans schools, cities, counties, public health authority, and governmental entities from requiring masks.  “No student, teacher, parent, or other staff member or visitor may be required to wear a face covering.”

The order exempts state-supported living centers; government-owned-or-operated hospitals; Tex. Dept. of Criminal Justice facilities; Tex. Juvenile Justice Dept. facilities; county and municipal jails.

Schools are allowed to keep following their present COVID policies until June 4, 2021 at which time the Texas Comm. of Education will announce his revised TEA policies.

On Sunday, 5.15,21, the Texas state health department had its first day in over a year without reporting a COVID-19 death.

Abbott’s latest order still allows private businesses to require customers and/or workers to wear masks.
