“In Entire U. S., Only 265 COVID Deaths in All of K-16”

If we consider just students in the entire United States, there have only been 265 COVID deaths among K-16.

If we consider just students, in 2019, there were 56.6 Million in K-12 and 19.9 Million in colleges/universities for a total of 76.5 Million students in K-16.

Out of 76.5 Million students, 265 have died of COVID!

Why are we locking down our schools and colleges if COVID has claimed only 265 lives in this age group?

The CDC prepared the document, “Provisional COVID-19 Death Counts by Sex, Age and State.”  It was updated on August 12, 2020:

https://data.cdc.gov/NCHS/Provisional-COVID-19-Death-Counts-by-Sex-Age-and-S/9bhg-hcku

The CDC Table shows that there have been 149,192 COVID-19 deaths in the U.S.

According to the CDC:

23 COVID deaths in the 5-14 Age Group (Grades K-8)

242 COVID deaths in the 15-24 Age Group (Grades 9-16)

TOTAL:  265 deaths in the 5-24 Age Group

The 5-24 Age Group encompasses Grades K-12 and college.  In fact, it would also include many students working on their master’s degree.

Most states have had zero deaths in the 5-14 Age Group, and very few deaths in the 15-24 Age Group.

In the 15-24 Age Group, I looked at all of the states and found the following COVID deaths:

Arizona – 11 deaths

New Jersey – 11 deaths

New York – 11 deaths

Texas – 23 deaths

How are the COVID deaths spread across the age ranges?

The following Table shows the COVID-19 deaths by Age Group:

    COVID-19 Deaths by Age Group

Age GroupCOVID  DeathsPercentage of Total COVID Deaths

Some people have suggested that we need to protect the teachers and staff from COVID.

Numerous studies indicate there is little transfer of COVID between students and staff.

*There appear to be some problems with the CDC statistics.  When I went through all of the states (state-by-state), I found zero (0) COVID deaths in the 5-14 Age Group.  The total in the CDC data should be 0 deaths – not 23 as they have listed!  I found only 56 deaths in the 15-24 Age Group – not 242 deaths as the CDC listed.
