As many of you know, the famed cathedral Notre Dame in Paris was recently on fire and several hundred firefighters worked diligently to save as much of this monument as possible. Notre Dame, like many other churches in Europe is the center of the city and much city life has revolved around this famous place. This writer was fortunate enough to visit this monument, not once but twice and has enjoyed learning about this famous edifice. There have been many books written about Notre Dame- some historical, some religious and spiritual, and some fictional ( such as the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Apparently a great deal of money has been raised to restore this famous church so that it can continue to serve the people of Paris, as well as the millions of tourists that visit this site and other famous places in Paris. Parents can share the link below with their children over the summer months- as it is quite impressive- and I am sure that French teachers will also want to share this with their students over the summer months or in the beginning of the new school year. We are fortunate that much of the internal parts of the church have survived and hope to visit this famous edifice again soon
