MC GRAW-HILL BEST BIOLOGY TEXTBOOK — PEARSON REFUSES TO CHANGE ITS CONTENT

Pearson_Logo.svg_BREAKING –  The news media has just released the information that Pearson (Publishing Company) has refused to follow the intent of the Texas science curriculum standards and has chosen to make no changes to their high-school Biology textbook. We in the public need to hold Pearson accountable and strongly urge our local school district personnel to choose the McGraw-Hill Biology textbook for the 2014-15 School Year and not the one from Pearson. – Donna Garner]

ACTION STEP ALERT – TIME TO ADVOCATE FOR BEST BIOLOGY BOOK – MC GRAW HILL 2015

 

Texas Public School personnel are in the midst of choosing their new 2015 Science instructional materials (e.g., textbooks) for next fall.  McGraw Hill has been rated “Exceptional Accuracy” by Educational Research Analysts because McGraw Hill chose to make sure the content of its high-school Biology textbook is aligned with the Science TEKS (Texas’ curriculum standards) passed by the elected members of the Texas State Board of Education in Spring 2009.

 

According to those Science TEKS (http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/rules/tac/chapter112/index.html ), teachers in Texas are to teach all sides of leading scientific theories which means they are to teach both the strengths and the weaknesses of evolution.  

 

Since the McGraw Hill high-school Biology textbook (2015) has been rated the highest with “Exceptional Accuracy” by the leading textbook evaluators in the entire United States (Educational Research Analysts), Texas parents and concerned citizens need to go to their local school board meetings as soon as possible, ask to speak during the public comments segment at the beginning of the meeting, and assertively request that their school district choose McGraw Hill as the high-school Biology textbook to be adopted by the district.

 

Parents and concerned citizens also need to set up a meeting with the local textbook adoption committee and express their support for the McGraw Hill high-school Biology textbook (2015). 

 

This is a chance for concerned citizens to have input into what is taught to the children in their school district.
