N.J. just took another step closer to ending PARCC testing

Will 2018 be the final year New Jersey students take the PARCC exams?

As New Jersey students sit to take the controversial PARCC exams this spring, state officials will be searching for a new set of standardized tests to replace them.

Following Gov. Phil Murphy’s campaign promise to end PARCC testing, the state Department of Education will soon form a testing advisory committee to explore new exams and ask for input from teachers and students, according to a memo sent to school districts on Tuesday.

Acting Education Commissioner Lamont Repollet wrote he plans to fulfill Murphy’s campaign promise, but he offered no timeframe for when new exams could debut and stopped short of saying students wont take PARCC again next spring.
