No re-takes on flawed math Regents test until next June due to cutbacks
Students who failed the state’s flawed Regents exam for Algebra II/Trigonometry will have to wait until next June to retake it, officials said.
In a cost-cutting move, the state cut the number of times
will be given from three to one this year, axing the August and January tests.
Teachers identified problems with three questions on the math tests taken by thousands of city students last month – enough to make a difference between passing and failing.
Parents said they want students to have a shot at a do-over soon – but state education officials said that’s unlikely.
