Ohio education board fights against Critical Race Theory

The Ohio State Board of Education, located in the Buckeye State and swing state in the American Midwest, voted to repeal a resolution that parroted left-wing buzzwords and ideology such as “implicit bias.”

The resolution, which was passed during the Black Lives Matter-fueled riots across the country in summer 2020, was repealed by a 10-7 vote. Resolution 20 claimed to be an “anti-racism” resolution that condemned hate crimes and white supremacy. The resolution directed the state’s Department of Education to teach employees about implicit bias and to review standardized tests and strike any biased questions. It also recommended local school boards in the state look at their graduation rates, discipline records, and classroom resources.

The board later asked the state’s attorney general, David Yost, to review it on the grounds that the resolution went beyond the board’s established legal authority. The formal request passed by a 14-4 vote.

Yost claimed that Resolution 20 was a tool “designed to establish and maintain white supremacy and racial oppression forever” and create a society of racial inferiority and historical misinformation. “Honest history must be taught in our schools,” Yost said, “Ugly chapters must be plainly taught… But so, too, should our history include the story of how the American people and our legal institutions put an end to these injustices and continue the work to guarantee equal treatment for all.”

Critics of the resolution pointed out out that Resolution 20 opened the door for Critical Race Theory to enter into Ohio’s public education curriculum with buzzwords such as “implicit bias.” Implicit bias claims that people hold biases and those biases negatively influence their treatment and interactions with those of other races or ethnicities. Critical Race Theory, promoted falsely by the Left as a correct interpretation of America’s history and founding, has been debunked by strict analysis.

For the record, Critical Race Theory is the flawed theory which claims all longtime or established American institutions, whether they be political, legal, or educational, are inherently racist and are biased against black Americans. It promotes the unproven argument that America has not progressed from the allegedly embedded racism in these institutions, despite history proving the theory and its supporters wrong.
