S. Burlington teachers vote to strike Wednesday
SOUTH BURLINGTON – City teachers will strike on Wednesday unless a contract agreement can be reached with the School Board, according a spokesman for the South Burlington Educators Association.
“The imposed working conditions removes the clear career path for teachers,” union spokesman and special education teacher Noah Everitt said at a post-vote gathering. “It’s our hope to have a fair settlement that both parties have agreed to.”
The teachers met to discuss their next move at the Frederick H. Tuttle Middle School Library Friday afternoon, following the collapse of contract negotiations that began Thursday evening and dragged into the wee hours Friday.
