“Tex. Senate Ignores Woke CEO’s and Sports Commissioners”

By Donna Garner

COMMENTS FROM DONNA GARNER:  We as Texans should be very pleased with what the Texas Senate is doing under the leadership of the Lt. Gov/President of the Senate Dan Patrick.  Yesterday the Senate passed SB 1234 and SB 598 which are strong election security bills (see below).

We voters expect the Texas Senate and the Texas House to turn a deaf ear to the “woke” CEO’s and sports commissioners who are practicing extortion by threats to penalize Texas (1) if we pass strong election integrity laws, (2) vote to protect women’s sports by banning transgender men, and (3) pass gender modification/child protection laws.

As a classroom teacher for 33+ years, I quickly learned what happens when students cave to a bully’s threats – the bullying only gets worse.

What these CEO’s and sports commissioners may not realize is that they get many financial and accommodation benefits from doing business in Texas. What state has better sports venues than does Texas?  What state has better airports and population centers?  What state has no personal income tax as well as no corporate income tax?  What state has better access to global markets around the world and regulations that are business-friendly as well as predictable?

Our Texas legislators need to remember that we elect them to make the laws; we do not elect CEO’s and sports commissioners who have decided to practice “woke politics.”]

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick: Statement on the Passage of Senate Bill 1234 and Senate Bill 598

AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued this statement today following the unanimous passage of 2 election security bills, Senate Bill 1234, by Sen. Bryan Hughes, R-Mineola, and Senate Bill 598, by Sen. Lois Kolkhorst, R-Brenham:

“At a time when the rhetoric around election security is being increasingly used in the media and corporate America to divide Texans and Americans, it is notable that Republicans and Democrats came together today in Texas to unanimously pass two bills designed to safeguard our elections. SB 1234 requires that a paper record be created of every ballot that is cast and SB 598 puts a system in place to audit ballots in coming elections so that the public can be confident about the accuracy of a vote tally. As I noted recently, over the past several years, both parties have expressed mistrust in the final outcome of elections. These bills will help us rebuild that trust.”
