YOUR HELP NEEDED TO COUNTER GOV. MIKE PENCE WHEN HE COMES TO DALLAS — AUG. 29 – 30, 2014

From Donna Garner:

From what I have surmised, Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana wants to run for President in 2016; and he is cut out of the same compromising cloth as Jeb Bush.

Gov. Pence tried to pull a fast one in Indiana to capture the national spotlight by claiming that he led Indiana to be the first state to opt out of Common Core.

However, in reality Pence established a committee which he proclaimed was to write “uncommonly high standards, written by Hoosiers for Hoosiers.”

Here’s the catch:  Gov. Pence hired Education Policy Director Claire Fiddian-Green to head up the committee (with a co-chair from the Indiana Department of Education).  Fiddian-Green has a degree in business administration, political science, and Russian studies but no teaching experience in K-12.

As standards expert Dr. Sandra Stotsky stated on 4.21.14 (Truth in American Education), “I am sure there are many qualified high school English teachers in the state and many recognized literary scholars at Indiana universities; they just weren’t on these committees.”

When Dr. Stotsky saw Fiddian-Green’s draft, Stotsky protested loudly because most of it was clearly Common Core.  Fiddian-Green took back the draft, claimed they would change it, but came up with another draft which was even worse — still the same old Common Core junk.  Dr. James Milgram, a well-known mathematician who is from Indiana, also joined in to protest the Indiana math standards.  The end result is that Indiana State Standards are in actuality warmed-over Common Core Standards.

As Dr. Stotsky stated on 4.21.14 in her TAE article, “In retrospect, it is clear that Draft #3 had to look like Common Core to satisfy Jeb Bush, the Gates Foundation, and the USDE, but it also had to look somewhat different to justify all the thousands of hours Fiddian-Green claimed the committees had spent on this job. How much this game of pretense cost Indiana taxpayers we may never know.”

Erin Tuttle and Heather Crossin did yoemen’s work to uncover Gov. Pence’s plan and to figure out who the members of the standards writing committee were.  It turns out a half to a third of them were the very same people who supported Common Core.

WHAT  TEXANS NEED TO DO

Gov. Mike Pence is coming to Dallas to be the keynote speaker at the Americans for Prosperity (AFP) meeting in Dallas —  Omni Dallas Hotel, 555 S. Lamar St., Dallas, TX.  The event begins at 8:00 A. M., Friday, Aug. 29, and concludes at 5:00 P. M. on Saturday, Aug. 30.  General Admission is $159/person.

Undoubtedly, Gov. Pence is getting himself positioned to run for President in 2016. The Indiana state director of AFP and some of his associates (who did nothing to help in the anti-Common Core fight) are coming down to Dallas to cheer Pence on.

We Texas anti-Common Core proponents (particularly those who live in the Dallas area) need to be at the AFP meeting to get the truth out about Gov. Pence. This could take the form of signs, banners, posters, flyers, literature distributed, questions from the audience, etc.

Unfortunately, we do not yet know the time slot in which Gov. Pence will be speaking; but it should be announced soon.
