U. S. House Passes Disastrous NCLB Rewrite

“U. S. House Passes Disastrous NCLB Rewrite”

By Donna Garner

To the detriment of millions of American children, the House passed the reauthorization of ESEA/NCLB today by a vote of 359 to 64 (with 10 not voting).  The 1,061 page omnibus bill was not made available to the House members nor to the public until Monday, 10.30.15.  Speaker Paul Ryan decided that the House should vote on it today after having only two days to read and digest 1,061 pages of political jargon.  Here is a link to that bill: http://edworkforce.house.gov/uploadedfiles/every_student_succeeds_act_-_conference_report.pdf

The U. S. Senate is to take up this same ESEA/NCLB bill next week; and according to today’s New York Times, “A White House official said Wednesday that President Obama plans to sign it when it reaches his desk.”

So that we can hold the House members accountable in the next elections, here is the link to today’s  official Roll Call vote: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2015/roll665.xml

For the historical record, I have posted a few of the articles at the bottom of this page that will document the concerns of tens of thousands of concerned Americans who pled with the House members not to pass this bill.

Here is what I sent to my own Congressman today (12.2.15); and he ignored my concerns, instead voting for the passage of this disastrous bill:

Congressman XXXXX, we are counting on your voting against the ESEA reauthorization of NCLB. With 1,061 pp. in it and with its only being released on Monday, there is no possible way that you nor anyone else could have read all that political jargon and could then have figured out all the possible ramifications of the legislation.

The ludicrous thing is that the bill may take action against Common Core in K-12, but that is “after the horse has been let out of the barn.”  Common Core has almost totally taken over K-12 in every state, even Texas.  However, the NCLB rewrite now inserts Baby Common Core in which all sorts of subjectively gathered, psycho-social data can be collected on Pre-K students; and this data will be tied to them from cradle-to-grave with no parent permission nor any way for a parent to delete erroneous information.

In those 1,061 pages, I can assure you that many other nefarious clauses exist that would only be discovered AFTER the bill has been passed. This bill is following the very same pathway that ObamaCare followed.

Please vote NO on the ESEA rewrite.  If Ted Cruz gets elected President, he has publicly stated many times that he is going to do everything possible to dismantle the U. S. Dept. of Education and Common Core within one year.

Passing the ESEA rewrite now under this President and under this Congress would be a terrible mistake. We must wait until after the elections of 2016 before deciding what role the federal government should play in our public schools.

Paul Ryan has not disappointed us. He passed a bill the people are opposed to, the House has not had enough time to read and so nobody knows what’s in it Sounds familiar oh yes Obamacare. Thanks Paul for your good judgement on education and being one of the good old boys who couldn’t care less about our country.
