What exactly is IBPS Clerk Exam?
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection also known by the acronym of IBPS is a body that was initiated with the purpose to persuade the recruitment and selection of young graduates based on a competitive exam for public sector banks in India. It was started in the year 1975 and just like every competitive exam and just like every competitive exam there is to take, it follows the same recruitment procedure. You take the exam, wait for the Sarkari Result and if you secure a spot, you’re selected. In this we’re discussing about the clerical exam. The Common Written Exam or CWE is held every year, once a year, starting in 2011 for the recruitment of clerks in all the public sector banks but SBI.
Syllabus
The subjects include:-
- Reasoning
- English Language
- Banking Awareness
- Data Analysis
- Letter and Essay Writing
- Computer Aptitude
Each aspirant is required a minimum set score in order to qualify to the second stage for the interview test. But, keep in mind, it holds negative marking for every wrong answer, so you have to be extra cautious while solving and carefully try not to choose random answers based on intuition, instead go for proper reasoning and solve before concluding an answer. The exam holds 200 marks and the time duration is limited to 180 minutes, while also noting that there are 0.25 negative marks for every wrong answer, so you have to work accordingly. You can also take guidance from previous year question papers and guide books (they’re in plenty) to get well-versed about the exam, which eventually would help you secure a position when the Sarkari Result is out.

- It’s very essential to strategize while studying
- Proper guidance and understanding about the exam is required and learn the basics thoroughly
- Every question is not possible to attempt in any scenario, and the sections should be attempted according to the known answers first rather than sequentially.
- Go through previous year question papers to get thorough knowledge of the exam and get an insight about your calibre as well
- Analyse through the ongoing current affairs
- Going through the exams will let you notice the trend in questions asked which will assist you to create your blueprint and work accordingly
- Set your exam date reminder to work according to the days left and approach the exam confidently
