David Coleman

To learn more about David Coleman, one of the lead writers of the Common Core Standards for English/Language Arts, please read the following articles.

It is disturbing to know that David Coleman is now the President of The College Board, that he plans to change the SAT test to align it with the Common Core Standards, and that Coleman is tied to Obama, Bill Ayers,  the Annenberg Foundation, Carnegie Corporation, Bill Gates, Student Achievement Partners, and Grow Networks. All of these represent the Type #2 philosophy of education and are aligned with radical progressives.

“ ‘David Coleman has never taught English. He’s never been in k–12,’ ” Stotsky says, and Susan Pimentel, the other lead writer of the language arts standards, only briefly taught Head Start, not English.” (Publication Weekly, 7.18.12 —  http://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/childrens/childrens-industry-news/article/53002-what-common-core-means-for-publishers.html )

David Coleman lives in trendy Greenwich Village, has never been a classroom teacher and wants to replace traditional subjects with broad learning. He believes there is “a massive social injustice in this country” and that education is “the engine of social justice.”

Coleman’s leadership is questionable as he uses profanity (“s–t, f–k, bulls-t, a–) in speeches regarding Common Core. He graduated from liberal Yale, Oxford, and Cambridge universities and is a founding partner of Student Achievement Partners, and the Grow Network, acquired by textbook publisher McGraw-Hill.

He is on the board of directors of The Equity Project Charter School, a middle school in New York City that paid $125,000 salaries to teachers yet had a 31.3% passing rate in English in 2010-11. His alliance with unions includes praise for “organizations like the UFT in New York City and the AFT statewide.” (3.12.13 – “Common Core: Nationalized State-Run Education” by Dean Kalahar, The American Thinkerhttp://www.americanthinker.com/2013/04/common_core_nationalized_state-run_education.html )
